Gold Coast to host ATE16, bringing $10m boost | The Insight Files | Scoop.it

Tourism Australia has announced that the Gold Coast will next year host the country’s biggest industry trade show — which is expected to dump $10 million into the economy. ATE brings together about 600 travel wholesalers and agents from 30 countries to meet and do business with 1500 Australian tourism seller delegates from 500 companies. Gold Coast Tourism CEO said ATE represents the single largest opportunity in 2016 or the city and the tourism industry to showcase itself to key influencers of the global travel industry. Tourism Australia's managing director said it was great to see Australia's premier trade event returning to one of Australia's key regional tourism destinations after the overwhelming success of the event in Cairns last year. "The timing of an ATE event on the Gold Coast is particularly appropriate, with 2016 seeing much more emphasis placed by Tourism Australia upon the international marketing of the country's aquatic and coastal tourism experiences."

Tourism business boosted after Cairns hosts ATE last year

Tourism business boosted after Cairns hosts ATE last year | The Insight Files | Scoop.it

The tourism industry is starting to reap the benefits of what has been described as the best Australian Tourism Exchange in Cairns last year. ATE is recognised as the biggest gathering of overseas tourism and travel buyers meeting Australian sellers each year in Australia. Tropical North Queensland chief executive said hosting ATE in Cairns had generated greater awareness of the destination, with anecdotal evidence suggesting that wholesalers have included more Cairns and Great Barrier reef content in their offerings. China Eastern increased direct flights for the Chinese New Year period in response to the strength of that market. Additionally, the confidence shown by SilkAir announcing direct flights from May would have been influenced by the positive distribution system noise around ATE. Click here for more information.
