Sydney voted safest, friendliest city | The Insight Files |

Sydney has been ranked second on a new “best cities” list and has also been recognised as the world’s safest and friendliest city, according to new research.

The bi-annual Anholt-GfK City Brands Index (CBISM) has revealed Sydney as second only to London on its new 50 best cities of the world survey, with the Harbour City outpacing many other popular metropolises, including Paris, New York, and Rome.

“Sydney is often recognised for its spectacular harbour, wonderful events and festivals and the other unique experiences for visitors, so it is particularly exciting to also be recognised for the people of Sydney and their positive effect on a visitors’ experience,” Minister for Tourism and Major Events George Souris said.

Australia’s southernmost state capital, Melbourne, also made the top ten on the 50 best cities list.
