Partaking in the annual European singing contest may have been Australia's biggest tourism ad to Europe yet. Guy Sebastian's time on stage opened Australia up to an estimated 180 million viewers. Sebastian managed to outperform a number of European destinations, to win 5th place at the 60th annual Eurovision Song Contest. Europeans and fans of the show around the world were exposed not only to the Australian flag, which was being waved across television screens, but also Australia's musical appeal and diversity. It may have even helped put Australia on the map for Europeans - perhaps even swayed a few to choose the home of Guy Sebastian for their next big getaway.

The 60th anniversary edition of the cult music content runs until May 23 and has caused a surge in holiday booking interest in the host nation. Holidaylettings.co.uk has reported a 100% increase in searches for rental apartments in the host city of Vienna, Austria, while Airbnb predicts 3800 residents will open their homes to visitors during the ESC final weekend. After years of being sidelined as observers, 2015 marks the year Australians can finally get involved in the Eurovision Song Content. Not only will Guy Sebastian become our first official entry, but Australians will also get the opportunity to formally participate in voting for a winner.
