Generosity is universal, and people across the globe participate in charitable giving. That being said, there are certain countries whose residents rise above the rest when it comes to giving behaviour. According to the World Giving Index 2014, Myanmar and the United States topped the list of the most charitable nations in the world, based on donations, volunteer work and helping strangers. Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia followed as the most charitable countries. Despite continual unrest and low human progress, a significant 91% of the population in Myanmar donated to charity, while 79% helped strangers and 44% participated in volunteer work. Comparatively in Australia, 65% of the population helped a stranger, while 66% donated money to charity and 37% undertook volunteer work. Click here to learn more.
