The saving and spending habits of jetsetting Australians have been revealed in a new report, which underlines the fact that Australians love to travel. With Australians spending on average over three weeks on their overseas trips, and around $168.87 per day, Westpac's Travel Finance Report found 58% of 'smart travellers' specifically set aside money to save for their travel for an average of 9.1 months. To stretch their budget further while away, 66% of travellers walk instead of catching a taxi or bus (46%), skip an attraction (21%), stay at a hostel (16%) or go without coffee (14%) or beer (11%). According to Nielsen's Quarter 2, 2015 Consumer Confidence report, global consumer confidence declined one index point in the second quarter to a score of 96. This near-baseline score reflects an overall stable outlook, but uneven performance at the country level increased within regions - especially in Latin America and the Middle East. Among the world's largest economies, confidence remained at near and above baseline levels in Germany (97) and the USA (101), despite quarterly index declines of three and six points, respectively. In China (107) and the UK (99), consumer confidence increased one and two points, respectively and increased one point in Japan (83) from the first quarter. Click here to download the report.
