User experience for travel sites often better on mobile than desktop | The Insight Files | Scoop.it

Some of the industry's leading brands are now considered to have a stronger user experience on their mobile websites than desktop. The latest wave of consumer benchmarking from UK-based eDigitalResearch found that users of Booking.com, for example, favoured its mobile website (87.5%) over desktop for overall user experience. The brand's mobile app scored at the same ranking level as the desktop version (85.1%). Against other brands, Booking.com was the overall winner for user experience across multi-channel environments, ahead of the likes of Hotels.com, British Airways, Lufthansa, Expedia and Marriott. Almost six out of ten Millennial Americans are aware of the sharing economy but less than half of consumers as a whole have knowledge of such services. According to a study conducted by Allianz Global Assistance, only 8% of travellers considered sharing economy services to have a better quality product than those featured on so-called established methods such as online travel agencies. OTAs appear to be winning across the board when it comes to factors such as authenticity of local experiences, value for money, booking flow, customer support and overall experience.
