Condé Nast has named Australia as the destination of the coming year. The US magazine is one of the foremost travel publications in the world and being named 'Destination of the Year' for 2016 is a huge accolade for Australia. Tourism Australia's MD John O'Sullivan claims the timing "couldn't be better" with the launch of the next big global campaign just a few weeks away. "This will put a renewed focus on Australia's world-class aquatic and coastal experiences, many of which have been highlighted by Conde NastTraveller as critical elements of our country's international appeal." Australia is currentl enjoying record numbers of visitor arrivals from the US, growing at levels not seen since the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Find out more.

The New York Times has rolled out its annual list of Places to Go, allowing 52 destination marketing organisations to declare an early win on their 2015 publicity efforts. In a travel world packed with annual where to go lists, Places to Go has become the top destinations list in the United States, due to both the New York Times' position in the media landscape and the resources the brand can muster to produce the enormous package and promote the list.
